4 Best Ways to Hide Your Online Status on WhatsApp

It’s always risky when you make yourself visible to others on WhatsApp, especially when you don’t want others to know that you are online.

The biggest advantage that WhatsApp provides to its users is the ability to hide their online status, and there are several ways in which you can do this. Today, we are going to take a look at some of the best ways through which you can hide your online status on WhatsApp. Let’s check them out!

What Is The Online Mode On WhatsApp

The online feature is one of three new features that were added in a recent update. The online function allows users who are currently chatting with you to see whether or not you are available, without actually having your smartphone turned on.

If you have enabled online mode, your friends will be able to tell that you have read their messages by seeing a green dot next to your contact name (like in Facebook chat). The online status can only be seen when both of you are using an Android device, and you must have location services enabled for WhatsApp (which is off by default).

You must also allow unknown sources from installation from unknown sources via android settings in order for these changes to take effect.

1) Turn Off Online Notification

This is a really simple trick and all you need to do is go into your settings and toggle off online status. This will make it so your status does not show as online, which means people can’t see when you were last online, who you were last chatting with, etc. If you don’t want to completely disable online status and still want to know when someone writes a message or sends a file, try using last seen instead of online in your settings. Last seen lets you view when others were active while still hiding whether or not they can see that info about you. If that sounds confusing just play around with both options for yourself until it makes sense!

2) Hiding the blue ticks

Sometimes all you want is a little peace and quiet. And by that, we mean for people to leave you alone. If you’re tired of constant messages from a certain someone, it can be tempting to hide your online status and ignore them completely—but it doesn’t have to be that way.

Instead, try disabling notifications for one particular conversation with just a few taps and letting everyone else know that yes, you are indeed still alive! The steps vary based on your phone and version of WhatsApp, but here are two options worth checking out: 1) Dial *#*#7378423#*#* in an incognito window or 2) Open Settings > Account > Privacy > Security> Hide Read Receipts.

3) Changing The Online and Last Seen Status

To change your online status and Last Seen time for someone, tap their name or profile picture. This will take you to their chat screen, where you can choose a specific action. Tap More and then select Change status or change last seen.

Choose when your online status shows up: Until I close/ sleep: You won't be shown as online in your friend's contacts until you manually turn off Airplane mode or exit sleep mode—but they'll still be able to send you messages while they're not online themselves.

Always: You'll show up as always online, even if you aren't currently connected to any networks. Never: You'll never appear as available in your friends' contact lists when they look at that info.

If you want to use this setting but make sure you don't miss messages from people who are offline too, try these tips for getting notified about new messages when the app is closed.

4) Turning Off Chat Previews

If you have a friend who is constantly trying to call or message you when they know you’re in a meeting, try turning off chat previews. You can choose whether or not your friends will be able to see when you’re typing a response.

If they cannot see that you are active, they may think that no one is around, and won’t bother messaging or calling. However, make sure that if someone starts sending messages through group chats that their status appears as online.

That way people won’t think something went wrong with their device while they were still chatting with others in a group conversation. It also lets them answer right away without anyone having to wait for them to reply.
